About Jared Hershberger

My career is grounded in dedicated service, innovative solutions, and servant leadership. I started my leadership and training roles with the USAF, and when I joined Charleston County Emergency Medical Services (CCEMS), I started as an EMT. I advanced into senior management roles where I've had the privilege to shape business strategies, accreditation, employee training, and introduce technology and programs with a lasting impact on both today's and future generations of EMS professionals. Today, I lead with the mindset of a "Catalyst of Purposeful Change," consistently seeking ways to train and build partnership-focused teams, improve operations and processes, incorporate data for informed decision-making, and drive positive healthcare outcomes. At CCEMS, the crew and employees are great—dedicated to providing high-quality emergency medical care, promoting public safety, and saving lives. As Assistant Chief of Compliance and Project Management, I lead strategic initiatives within the department and pioneer programs that break new ground and create value across the organization. Throughout my career, I've demonstrated operational strengths and core values: INTEGRITY: I prioritize integrity and objectivity, ensuring the mission and well-being of others come first. I address and solve problems, knowing there are always better ways to do things. I seek out experts and empower others to share ideas so we all benefit from finding ways to progress. LEADERSHIP: I unify diverse, cross-functional, and multi-agency teams by establishing expectations and a shared vision. I am a pragmatic leader, delivering results and contributing through collaborative environments and data-driven insights. TEAM MANAGEMENT: I empower teams to achieve their best through consistent guidance, training, and wellness and mentoring programs supporting personal and professional growth. DATA ANALYTICS & BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE: I introduced and use MS Power BI and other systems to gather, analyze, and visualize data. I report and share this data internally and externally. Leveraging BI has been a game-changer. COLLABORATION: I partner with internal and external stakeholders, government agencies, and community leaders. I actively participate in and take leadership roles in numerous committees to achieve shared goals. ADAPTABILITY: Change is constant. In EMS, adaptability can mean the difference between life and death. I develop staff adaptability by encouraging continuous learning and open communications while empowering teams to embrace change.
