About Jared Mullen

As a health care policy professional with a focus on Medicare Part C and Part D payment policy, I have been privileged to work at CMS for the past two years. In that time, I have developed an understanding of the intricacies of Medicare payment policy and the ways in which it impacts patients, providers, and health plans.My experience includes:• Assisting in policy development related to Medicare Part C and Part D payment systems, including development of the 2024 Advanced Notice and Rate Announcement and the on-going implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act Part D redesign provisions.• Conducting research and analysis into payment-related issues related to both Parts C&D.• Developing and briefing policy options to agency leadership.• Participating in the design and implementation of Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act Non-Quantitative Treatment Limitation (NQTL) review process and helping to lead the first year of NQTL reviews. • Managing investigations of non-Federal governmental health care plans based on complaints and applicable Public Health Service Act provisions.• Collaborating with other CMS teams and external stakeholders to gather feedback and incorporate it into policy development.I am committed to the mission of CMS and the goal of promoting high-quality, cost-effective health care for Medicare beneficiaries.
