About Jared Perez

Working in both medical clinics and dealing with student affairs jobs, I was able to gain the skills to really understand people from different backgrounds. This has allowed me to better support students as a Retention Coordinator as well as given me the opportunity to better understand the patient that I take care of. This skill of empathy has allowed me to step into the lives of others and fully understand situations from different perspectives, backgrounds and experiences. Through my working with different people, patients or students, I was able to gain a better understanding of how factors like socioeconomic status, race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality tie into the decisions they make, the way they think and the way they choose to carry themselves. I have been able to think critically about not only people, but different scenarios and been able to practice looking at the bigger picture.
