About Jared Raskin

Growing up in south Florida, I’ve always had a passion for all things sports. However, after seven short soccer seasons as a kid, tearing things in both knees I’ve never heard of, and lack of athletic talent, my career as an “athlete” was over. While I enjoyed playing, it didn’t quite enjoy me back. I knew throughout high school that I wanted to attend a large university that had both great academics and athletics. Between touring countless schools and family ties to Penn State, I knew Happy Valley was home. After being accepted directly into the pre-med program, my plan was always to work in sports…but as an orthopedic team doctor. This didn’t last very long as I found myself not enjoying what I was doing. For the number of countless hours each night studying chemistry and biology, I didn’t enjoy it. I found myself lost and not knowing where to look next, but one thing I knew was that my story was still being written and I controlled the rest of the book. Fast forward four years and I graduated from Penn State in Dec. 2021 with a major in digital and print journalism and triple minor in sports studies, kinesiology, and psychological science. Additionally, I completed a three-year double internship with Penn State Athletics Marketing and Penn State Football. I was also a five-year member of the Penn State Blue Band Drumline with my final two serving in a leadership role as Drumline Captain. Immediately following my graduation, I began graduate school in Jan. 2022 at the University of Georgia. In May 2023, I graduated from UGA with my master’s degree in sport management and policy. While studying, I worked as a Graduate Assistant in the development office with The Georgia Bulldog Club where I assisted in the fundraising and marketing efforts for the five annual funds that raise over $30M annually while serving as front-line support for over donors. Having worked at both PSU and UGA, I have a tremendous understanding of the critical role development plays in the success of an athletic department. I understand the unique challenges facing our changing athletics landscape and enjoy being able to enhance and elevate a brand while developing untapped opportunities and unique fundraising strategies to secure the resources required to achieve its mission and goals. As a self-driven, confident, and reliable individual, I look forward to new opportunities and accomplishing new tasks. I pride myself on my four key values of work ethic, confidence, attitude, and sacrifice and know that my initiative and motivation make me an asset to any organization.
