As a kid, I once accidentally recruited 100 people to look for my missing contact.The funny part is, I don't wear contacts. So there we were at a church dance, with what seemed like forever to go until our moms came to pick us up. After bouncing and bobbing for an hour or two, the energy in the gymnasium started to wane. So, I dropped to my knees and was quickly approached by someone wondering what I was looking for and if they could help. Well, that recruit quickly yielded another and another until, to my elation, half the dance floor was searching for my non-existent contact. Realizing that my stunt was probably getting out of hand, I thrust my finger in the air, shouted excitedly, rinsed my digit in the drinking fountain, then pretended to return a contact to my eye as convincingly as I could.What 15 year old me understood that day is that people are complex. Though their actions may have implied that they were down to dance, on the inside most of them would rather spend their night comfortably helping a stranger than dancing the puberty shuffle to yet another chorus of Party Rock Anthem. 🫂 🥦 🥁 I used to say my passion was "manipulating people, usually for good."(Sue me. I'm a fan of pranks.)However, more recently I've found the term PEOPLE ARCHITECTURE to be better for obvious reasons.
