About Jared Staples

I recently graduated in May 2021 from Kennesaw State University. I have a bachelors degree in Interactive Design and a minor in Technical Communication. Over the last four years, I have taken classes that have taught me many useful skills that I can take with me into the user experience design industry. From HTML to usability testing, I have added many assets to my design toolbelt. On top of this, I had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with so many innovative and smart aspiring designers who come from all kinds of different backgrounds. This has allowed me to broaden my perspective on design, and the connections that I will make through working in this industry. During the summer of 2019, I approached my mentor, John Howard, about a possible internship at his design agency, Black Airplane. This was basically a shot in the dark considering they had no interest in bringing in an intern for the summer. To my surprise, he allowed me to collaborate alongside him and the rest of the team for the entire summer. During my time at Black Airplane, I worked alongside the design and development team to deliver creative and intentional web interfaces to a variety of clients including; Superior Essex, Kefi, and Gas South. I also had the opportunity to take on a full website redesign project for Angels Among Us Pet Rescue. I started off with a kickoff meeting where we discussed with the client about the issues that they are facing with the current site design, and how we can help develop solutions for these issues. I used a method of lean UX that consisted of weekly meetings with the client discussing the constant iterations of the designs based on feedback received in previous presentations. This gave me hands on experience with explaining my design iterations and my reasoning behind each change made to the product. I am looking forward to jumping into the job market after I graduate this May. I am currently looking for a full time position as a UX researcher or UI/UX designer. I am confident that with my ability to collaborate with others and my design skill set, I will be a valuable asset to any company's team who is willing to take a chance on me. On top of this, I am always looking for ways to sharpen up my design skills through freelance work.
