About Jared White

I am a senior Mechanical Engineering student at FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. I decided to pursue engineering because I’ve always been compelled to figure out how things work. Plus, I’m always up for a good challenge and reward.Outside of being a college student and studying endlessly, I’ve spent the last 3 summers sailing in some of the most beautiful places on Earth. I’ve learned some of my most valuable lessons from travel: some came from sail boats, some from kids playing soccer in the streets of foreign countries. All came from exploring and getting out of my comfort zone. And that’s exactly what I’m looking to do with my career.I’m most interested in hands-on work where I can see exactly how things function and react to change. Getting to put time and effort into “making” and then seeing your physical results is part of what makes engineering so rewarding for me.Currently, I’m working on my senior design capstone project, sponsored by Corning, aiming to stabilize ceramics on a plant conveyor line.
