Performance engineer with 18+ years of experience building and optimizing distributed systems. Currently pushing the boundaries of time-series database performance at QuestDB, where I work on core components including data types, pgwire protocol, and Kafka integration. I've gone full circle from IC to Director of Engineering (scaling teams from 25 to 40+) and back to hands-on technical work - because I love diving deep into system internals and squeezing out every last bit of performance. Highlights- 1 Billion Row Challenge: 3rd place overall, 1st place in 32-core setup - proving that performance optimization is both an art and a science - Former JCP Executive Committee representative for Hazelcast - Designer of critical distributed systems features including I/O Balancer and zero-downtime upgrade protocols - International speaker at JavaOne, JFokus, Devoxx, and other major conferences - Remote work veteran since 2014, collaborating across time zones and continents - GitHub-recognized "Mars 2020 Helicopter Contributor" for my HdrHistogram bugfix I no longer compile my own Linux kernel - I compile OpenJDK instead.
