About Jarrod McMaugh

My career in health began almost 20 years ago when I started my pharmacy degree, and in that time I have developed an interest in health consumer advocacy and professional advocacy. It became clear to me early in my career that the people who matter the most in health care - those who use health services - are struggling to have their voice heard. As such, I have involved myself with organisations and representative groups who provide a clear voice for the people they represent; each group that I have become associated with has a strong consumer representation, has a clear focus for consumer advocacy, and places the voice of consumers first. These groups include Hepatitis Victoria, Harm Reduction Victoria, and Chronic Pain Australia.I bring this same philosophy to my involvement in professional organisations; I endevour to have a high level of participation with the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and Pharmacists' Support Service, and I advocate for pharmacy wherever I am able, with a strong presence in pharmacy print and social media.In 2014 I was elected to the Victorian Branch Committee of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, and in 2015 I was elected to Vice President. In this role I have helped to develop standards for clinical services and policy in pharmacy, with guidance on design, implementation, and administration of services and policy.I represent pharmacists and the PSA on a number of professional committees and in advocacy roles with external stake holders such as RMIT University, Pharmacists’ Support Service, and the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.As a thought-leader within the pharmacy profession, I have been approached by a number of companies and professional bodies to provide education sessions or expert opinion, including the Australian Journal of Pharmacy, Sanofi Consumer Healthcare, Australian Pharmaceutical Formulary, Teva Pharmaceuticals, Retail Media, NPS Medicinewise and Sigma Pharmaceuticals.
