I am a recreation therapy student who is passionate about improving the well-being of people through therapeutic recreational activities. Recreation therapy is a profession that uses recreation and leisure activities as a means to help people achieve their optimal health, wellness, and quality of life. I have a wide range of skills and knowledge that enable me to work with diverse populations and settings, such as children, seniors, people with disabilities, mental health issues, or chronic illnesses, in hospitals, schools, community centers, or long-term care facilities. I can design and implement effective and engaging leisure programs that are tailored to the specific needs, interests, and goals of the people I serve, such as arts and crafts, games, sports, music, gardening, or animal-assisted activities. I have also gained valuable practical experience through volunteering in various recreation therapy settings, where I have demonstrated my professionalism, creativity, and commitment to the field. I have learned how to plan, deliver, and evaluate recreation therapy programs, how to work collaboratively with other health professionals, and how to adhere to ethical and legal standards. I am eager to apply my skills and passion to the profession of recreation therapy, and to continue learning and developing as a recreation therapist. I have a deep understanding of the therapeutic value of recreation, and how it can benefit people physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally.
