Background

About Jasmin Charron

School garden educator passionate about youth empowerment and natural inspiration toward interconnectedness, community resilience, respect for life, and self(less)-sufficiency. Compassion and curiosity are my greatest strengths. My previous education in public health and health psychology inspired a commitment to service, a dedication to social justice, and an intense nosiness about the hows and whys of large- and small-scale approaches to health and healing. The farm-to-school and school garden movements are particularly inspiring for my work. I’m passionate about the roles of sustainable agriculture, food systems, and equity-centered food policy in supporting community health. My graduate education enables me to support individual health journeys using functional nutrition, health coaching, HAES framework, and collaborative healthcare models. I also have training in community health program development based in food justice and food sovereignty. I believe that food is a foundational human right; that hunger is violence; that communities know best what they need for themselves; and that connection to nature and to others can heal for generations to come. I thrive when I’m actively living and working with intention, open-mindedness, and a growth mindset. In my free time you might find me working on handicrafts, experimenting with new and old recipes, learning about permaculture and gardening with my people, practicing my Spanish, or cracking terrible puns that I find hilarious. I’m always looking for new opportunities to learn about my favorite things (or things I don’t even know about yet!), and I’m excited to grow my network in the Baltimore/Washington DC area. I’d love to connect with you over some great food, a nature stroll, or just a relaxed chat!
