About Jasmine Easley

My teaching journey began in 2012 as a substitute teacher for my high school PE teacher whom had health problems. With no experience and her having faith and trust in me, I chose to accept the challenge and take over her class until she returned. I enjoyed the atmosphere of teaching and creating positive bonds with the students and continued to substitute teach after different schools and within general and special education (self-contained) classes. In 2013, I had the opportunity to be a long term substitute teacher in a Life skills self-contained classroom; during my time I determined my calling in life and chose to go back to school to get my degree. From 2013-2015, I wanted to continue to learn about special education and became a paraprofessional until I earned my degree. In May 2015-2018, I began my certified teaching journey at a Level D placement (self-contained). I taught high school and middle school students with behavioral/social/emotional learning disabilities. In January 2018-2022, I had the opportunity to teach high school Life skills (self-contained). Along side of teaching I was a head coach for Track & Field for 4 years and the boys/girls sprint coach for 6 years. I was able to use my platform to encourage my students to participate in the sport while be accepted and included with their other peers. I moved to Texas to challenge myself in a different educational area, such as an elementary teacher for 1st-5th graders (self-contained).
