About Jasmine Jong

Have you ever tracked every dollar just to turn a dream into reality? I have—and that’s how my journey in finance began. I’m currently a junior at the University of Iowa, double majoring in Finance and Risk Management & Insurance, with an anticipated graduation in 2026. Before transferring, I earned my Associate of Arts and Science degree from Southeastern Community College, graduating with a 4.0 GPA in May 2024. My passion for managing money started early. With my mom working as an accountant, I grew up around spreadsheets and savings tips. At 17, I took a job in fast food to begin saving for college. I opened a CD account, taught myself about investing through the Rapunzel app, and stuck to a strict budget—only spending 10% of my paycheck on wants. Two years later, I had saved enough to attend university on my own. That early experience taught me the power of discipline, planning, and financial literacy. Outside of academics, I’m deeply involved in campus life. I serve as the Vice President of Finance for MBSA (Multicultural Business Student Association) and am also a member of FMA (Financial Management Association), InvestHer, Rotaract, VSA (Vietnamese Student Association), and Women in Business. I love connecting with driven, like-minded peers and constantly finding new ways to grow. Back at Southeastern, I held leadership roles as Vice President of the Business Club, President of the Science Club, and Co-Organizer of Phi Theta Kappa. I also worked as a Customer Service Representative and volunteered in my community—all experiences that taught me to lead, adapt, and always stay eager to learn. My hard work has been recognized through scholarships like the Dr. Edward Stone STEM Transfer Scholarship and the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship. Whether I’m budgeting for myself, managing finances for a student org, or exploring investment strategies, I approach everything with energy, curiosity, and drive.
