About Jasmine Murray

As a highly self-motivated individual with a passion for closing the achievement gap for high need students and a great focus on youth development and success. I believe my prior experience working and implementing programs with students enables me to connect and foster growth within children.I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Bowie State University. I completed two semesters of student teaching in a fourth-grade class. Before I began my student teaching I completed a year of service with Americorps’ The Literacy Lab where I worked with high need students from grades kindergarten through third grade in Washington D.C. to develop their literacy skills. Through the use of targeted interventions and weekly progress monitoring, I was able to see ample growth in my students over the academic year. In addition, created a curriculum and model for an after-school enrichment program that uses project-based learning to provide students with an alternative approach to learning. This curriculum is being implemented in two Prince George's County Schools' aftercare program. In this program, students learn skills including; communication, critical thinking, and collaboration as well as standardized test prep.
