About Jason Bahena

I'm a passionate advocate for education, driven by my experiences as a graduate of San José State University, where I majored in Political Science and explored the fascinating world of Anthropology. My journey led me to The POPVOX Foundation, where I served as a Program Assistant, collaborating with an inspiring team on various projects and diving into research when needed. Through this role, I've gained a deep appreciation for the power of informed decision-making. Beyond my professional role, I'm dedicated to making a difference in education. As a member of the 2022-23 Student Leadership Institute (SLI) cohort, I sharpened my advocacy, leadership, and research skills, all in pursuit of a more inclusive and impactful higher education system. My commitment extends to mentorship and support. I've had the privilege of guiding first-generation African-American and Latinx males through their transformative first year of college as part of the 'I Can, I Will Program' with the Educational Opportunity Program at SJSU. With experience spanning political campaigns, water policy organizations, and a public relations consulting firm, I'm now driven to combine my passion for education with my diverse background to create positive change. I'd love to connect with other leaders and passionate people looking to make a change in the K-12 and higher education systems.
