Background
About Jason Buck
At my core, I am an educator. Educators teach and coach. Educators develop relationships and get to know others. Educators take the complex and make it simple. Educators lead others to grow. Helping others realize their goals through leading, teaching, and coaching has woven itself through every part of my career. As a classroom teacher, I guided students as they learned the curriculum while helping them realize that a bad grade is a chance to refine themselves and their learning. As a technology integrator, I encouraged and coached reluctant teachers to adopt and adapt technology into their daily practice. Seeing the pride of a teacher truly integrating technology that used to intimidate them is as rewarding as hearing an elementary student read on their own for the first time. Even in my most recent positions as the Assistant Director of HRIS and now the Director of HRIS and Compensation, I consider it a win and take pride if someone from my team gets promoted or lands a new job because of my part in helping them grow in their practice and skills. An educator’s superpowers are leading through relationship building and finding the simple in the complex. Think back to what your favorite teachers did when you were learning in school and got stuck. The educator first encouraged you to keep trying, and this leadership worked because of the relationship they build with you. Then, the educator helped you get to the root of the problem by coaching you to break down the complex into smaller simpler steps. Whether teaching a sixth-grader the water cycle, coaching a teacher through a student podcasting project, or leading a team issuing over contracts and notices of assignment to employees, I use my superpowers of leading through building relationships and finding the simple in the complex. I am a leader. I find the simple in the complex. I develop relationships, teach, coach, and lead others to reach their goals. I am an educator. How can I help you today?
