About Jason Bugg

As a former college and pro baseball player, now a coach and educator, I've been shaped by extraordinary coaches, reflecting their teachings in my approach. My journey in baseball, beginning as a second baseman at Oak Grove High School, has been marked by adaptability and a deep understanding of the game. At San Jose City College, I was the starting left fielder, helping the team reach the state final four. Transitioning to third base in my sophomore year, I earned a full scholarship to San Jose State University (SJSU), eventually becoming the center fielder. In my senior year at SJSU, I significantly raised my batting average 100 points from my junior year to.355 my senior year, earning team MVP and 1st Team All Big West honors. After college, I signed with the Atlanta Braves as a free agent, showcasing versatility across multiple positions and training as a catcher under Rich Morales, former New York Mets scout. This period further refined my skills and understanding of the game. My comprehensive training encompasses various aspects of baseball, including hitting techniques and defensive strategies, under the guidance of renowned coaches like Jay Ward, Terry Hardtke, and insights from Charlie Lau and Mike Schmidt. As an assistant coach at SJSU under Hall of Fame coach Sam Piraro, we achieved a 98.7 fielding percentage, honing my defensive coaching skills. As I look to the future, my goal is to continue growing within the baseball industry, exploring roles in front office, scouting, player development, or media relations. My broad experience and mentorship-driven knowledge uniquely position me to make a significant impact in any baseball-related role.
