I support the Telecommunications Unit at the FAA by providing network and telecom services and telecom infrastructure for the FAA. The Telecommunications Unit manages the Backbone Network. The telecommunications infrastructure at the MMAC supports approximately (95) buildings on approximately 1,200 acres. Supports the overall Network Engineering/Security framework including but not limited to installing, configuring, monitoring routers/switches and other network devices while maintaining secure, redundant and reliable operation of the Backbone Network and the Internet Access Point (IAP). Maintains up-to-date documentation of including but not limited to, Cisco 65xx, 3850, 9300, 9400, 9500, Nexus 9K, 7K and 5K platforms. Ensures network team documentation is complete and conforms to requirements. Serves as the technical expert in the use of network management/monitoring tools, routing protocols, Access Control Lists, and UPS network monitoring. Serves in SAFE/Agile work groups. Participates on strategic planning committees organized to integrate the efforts of information Technology groups. Ensures backbone network and Internet Access Point (IAP) conform to appropriate DOT/FAA security regulations, policies, and procedures. Serves as Project Lead on network enhancement and modernization projects. Provides policy guidance and instruction to others, both internally and externally. Monitors the Service Now Network Queues for tickets related to the network infrastructure on a daily basis. Resolves Network Queue tickets as assigned and supports other FAA personnel who may also be resolving Network Queue tickets. Monitors/administers network monitoring tools (SolarWinds and Netflow) to ensure network performance and uptime. Follow all Configuration Change Management Processes. Utilize Archibus to assist and ensure smooth space management transitioning for FAA personnel. Installs LAN/WAN connectivity to support FAA operations and provide system performance monitoring services on critical systems and services. Oversee the administration of LAN/WAN infrastructure to design, configure, implement, and manage a communications network. Performs installation, testing, modification, enhancement, and maintenance of LAN/WAN networks. Performs network analysis and troubleshooting techniques on Cisco LAN/WAN equipment, Windows and, and related services. Diagnoses and resolves problems, implement OS patches and upgrades, address security rights/issues with firewalls, switches, routers, etc. Secondary F5 administrator and the primary Gigamon administrator.
