About Jason Deckert

I started my film career in 2011 when I took my first academy class for film in Fairfax, VA. Since then, I graduated from the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) with a major in Film & Television and a minor in Dramatic Writing. My major director accolades revolve around original short films, an original documentary, and a short noir-animated music video. I've also worked as an editor for several independent projects, including a 40-episode children's satire web series on Youtube. I've also had the privilege to work behind-the-scenes as part of the crew for other filmmakers as well, most specifically THE SCARECROW, Directed by Leah Pollack, and THE LAND, Directed by Blake Naleid, with the former becoming a semi-finalist in the Best Short film festival in Ontario back in 2018. Lastly, I absolutely love writing screenplays. Primarily working on animation projects, I want to envelop my skills as a writer to become my own content creator. Since 2014, I have worked on many original screenplays, including two features (AKUMA ALLEY, JAGERHUND), two shorts (CRITICAL ACCLAIM, THE LAST LINE), two RPG games (ODIN, THE KILLING GAME), and an original television pilot (ELKHOUND) which was a contestant in the 2019 Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition. It's been my goal for as long as I can remember to create films and stories that audiences can enjoy and come back to. I love being a creator for entertainment's sake, and I work on films for a living. It's what I do.
