I have worked for Royal Mail for 5 years between 1989 and 1994 doing 2 different customer facing jobs. The first was a postman delivering mail to customers in all weathers and the other one was more based on keeping to targets of getting 1st and 2nd class mail out on time. Sorting lots of letters and packets through the night ready for postman in the morning to deliver to the customer. This job was a night sorter. Between and 2002 I did courses in IT, Microsoft Word, Excel & Data Entry for which I have certificates for. Recently I have done courses which are designed to build confidence and preparation to get back into the workplace and have got 4 certificates. These are IT Confidence Part 1 which deals with the basics of Microsoft Word 2016, Gloscol JobSmart Programme Digital Job Search which dealt with more computer basics, online basics Inc email, introduction to word processing, Internet safety, exploring job opportunities and applying for a job and also the Gloscol JobSmart Programme Working in an Office Academy certificate which dealt with what an administrator is, office equipment, customer service, problem solving, action planning, communication skills, working with others, applying for a job and interview skills. In between those courses I did a Level 2 Warehouse and Storage Principles course for which I am still waiting for a certificate to come through in the post. I have had a 7 year gap from 1995 to 2002 due to depression and then I started doing voluntary work from 2002 to 2008 doing various roles in an administrative environment. Again during this time I have had gaps in between voluntary work due to bad relapses of depression My main aim is to get back into the workplace in either computerised accountancy doing a course on the job, retail as I am currently doing voluntary work for a charity shop or doing warehouse on the job training to include forklift driving licence course if anyone is prepared to fund it as I am much better now.
