About Jason Drwal

I'm the owner and a therapist at Evergreen Therapy Center, a clinic that specializes in treating trauma and other mental health problems. My philosophy is that the best client care comes from providers who are passionate about their work, have excellent work-life balance, are highly trained, and are committed to effective treatment practices. Before opening Evergreen Therapy Center in 2019, I worked for 12 years at the Iowa City VA Health Care System as a therapist, clinic manager, and supervisor in the APA accredited doctoral internship program. In addition to my business and therapy duties, I am a freelance writer and blogger, who writes about the intersection of culture and mental health. I have published in national magazines and local newspapers. As a clinical psychologist, I am able to bring an understanding of research that allows me to critically evaluate the work in the field and uniquely interview expert sources. I am also a deep believer that how we define and understand mental health is intricately connected to the beliefs, traditions, assumptions, and quirks of a culture.
