Background
About Jason Flom
For over 25 years, my professional journey has been driven by a deep commitment to building a more just world. This mission shaped my work as an educator, school leader, and mentor. I helped establish a school rooted in diversity, equity, and inclusion, designing an upper elementary program that culminated in a Civil Rights Tour across the Southeast—connecting students with history in Selma, Montgomery, Tuskegee, and Atlanta. Beyond the classroom, I cultivated a national network of educators through a multi-author blog, social media engagement, and workshops at national conferences, including ASCD. As an ASCD Emerging Leader, I transitioned into mentorship and faculty roles, guiding the next generation of educational leaders. In administration, my focus shifted to strengthening our school community and bringing our mission—empowering compassionate, global learners—to life. We achieved key milestones, including ensuring our student body reflected our community’s demographics, developing a curriculum centered on diversity and civic engagement, and fostering a love for learning through hands-on, collaborative experiences. Our graduates leave as creative, critical thinkers and problem-solvers. A pivotal year with QED Foundation ignited my passion for adult learning, leading to national workshops, program development, and professional facilitation. These experiences proved invaluable when guiding our school through the pandemic. Adapting quickly while staying true to our mission required resilience, collaboration, and a deep commitment to trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning. Even amidst upheaval, our students thrived, experiencing transformational learning because of a community rooted in trust, compassion, and shared purpose. I remain committed to fostering environments where all learners—young and adult—feel empowered to grow, lead, and make meaningful change.
