About Jason Hammill

Graduated from Clarkson University in 2019 with a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering and minor in Mathematics. My first two years after graduating were with Lockheed Martin working in their SEWIP and Ground-based Radar programs. I spent the next two years at Alcoa as a process engineer in the Casthouse. During that time, I learned the billet production process in its entirety, from the mold shop, the casting pit, the homogenization furnaces, and processing centers. My focus was to identify and improve on aspects that would increase billet OEE, such as decreasing areas of downtime at the homogenization furnaces and increasing Airslip billet recovery. It was during that time as a process engineer that I found myself becoming more and more passionate at the human aspect of the job. I enjoyed working directly with the supervisors and hourly employees on the floor, helping drive continuous improvement changes. It was with this new found passion that I accepted the role as the Casthouse Process Flow Leader or the department superintendent. In my newest role, it is my responsibility to ensure that our shift supervisors and employees are operating safely and efficiently on a shift by shift basis. This is done by making sure everyone is trained correctly on the job at hand, both safety-wise and technically. Accomplishing this will allow us to continue to meet our production and shipping targets while also meeting our high safety standards.
