Background
About Jason Iannone
NOAA's N-Wave MPLS network supports dozens of NOAA missions located anywhere from the pure research and exploration vessel the Okeanos in the middle of the ocean to the NESDIS satellite antennas at top of the world in Utqiagvik, Alaska; from the seat of power in the Herbert C. Hoover Building in Washington D.C. to weather stations in cities across the nation; from super computers in Boulder Colorado and Princeton New Jersey to hurricane hunters flying out of Tampa Florida; from fisheries services in Monterey California to great lakes ecosystem research in Ann Arbor Michigan. NOAA depends on N-Wave to transmit raw products generated by data collection instruments. NOAA depends on N-Wave to deliver final products to consumer applications on the internet via high speed, robust transit infrastructure. For a decade I have designed, deployed, documented, trained, and maintained NOAA's N-Wave MPLS backbone infrastructure. I develop architectures, BOMs, and configuration templates. I advocate and influence core network strategies, service enhancements, and forward looking technologies. I am a strong proponent of adherence to standard topologies. I am a key resource for the design and implementation of NOAA's DHS mandated TIC infrastructure, representing the bread and butter growth engine for N-Wave across NOAA's missions. I work with N-Wave's federal leadership to develop requirements for infrastructure and services, and select vendor and parts. I travel to installations across the country. I have extensive experience with Palo Alto PAN-OS, Fortinet FortiOS, Ixia/Keysight Vision Edge OS, Cisco IOS and IOS-XR and Juniper's Junos and Junos-EVO. My responsibilities have focused on routing, traffic engineering, capacity management, access design, demarcation, and services product development. My goal is to provide reliable, scalable, and secure network solutions supporting NOAA missions. I hold a JNCIE Emeritus certification from Juniper Networks and a CECP certification from MEF.
