About Jason Kemp

I am a PhD candidate at University of Guelph I and working as a freelance wilderness guide. I completed my bachelors degree in Computer Science at Carleton University and a masters degree at University of Guelph. In my MsC I achieved a 4.0 GPA in my coursework, created two new algorithms for Relative Position Descriptors in the case of vector objects, and coauthored a paper (in preparation to be submitted). I also worked as a teaching assistant for multiple classes where I learned skills in teaching, grading, and building a course outline. In my bachelors degree I focussed my Honors Thesis on player interaction in a virtual reality game world using the Oculus Rift and the Unity3D engine. With my Specialization in Video Game Development I have worked with both OpenGL and DirectX. My work experiences taking people out of their element and into nature has taught me how to communicate with people and work well as part of a team. Additionally my outdoor recreational activities have taught me much, whitewater kayaking and rock climbing have shown me additional leadership skills, problem solving, risk management, and planning. I have also acquired formal rescue and leadership training through these activities.
