About Jason Kies

I am the Managing Partner of KPMG in the Southeastern, VA area, and I oversee our office and people serving the market for Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton Roads, Chesapeake, Newport News, Suffolk, Portsmouth, and Williamsburg. In this role, I am responsible for leading market strategy, developing and inspiring over 160 team members, delivering outstanding client care, and growing KPMG's brand and relationships in the market. In addition, I serve as a Global Lead Partner in KPMG's Private Equity practice. Career experience in auditing and advising large, diversified, multi-national institutions in industries including Private Equity, Insurance, Retail, and Manufacturing. Also have experience in project management and am proficient in SEC Independence rules, serving as the PE practice Independence Leader and Liaison to our National Independence group. Plus, I assist with my department's operations and internal forecasting and reporting to senior leadership of the Firm. In addition to client duties, I oversaw the PE Research team (~ 15 individuals) whose mission was to assist lead teams within the PE Group with various aspects of account maintenance and support. As part of my career with the Firm, I have served in offices located in Virginia (Richmond and Norfolk), Switzerland (Zurich - as part of the US Accounting & Reporting Group (USARG)), Malta, and New York City. Serving the profession and local community is important to me. Currently, I serve as a member of the FASB Public Markets Advisory Committee, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Chrysler Museum of Art, and an Executive Committee Member of the Tocqueville Society of the United Way of South Hampton Roads. In addition, I am a Trustee of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, as well as a Board Member and Executive Committee member of the Greater Norfolk Corporation. I am also heavily involved with Virginia Tech's Pamplin School of Business. Regarding Virginia Tech, I serve on the Pamplin Advisory Council (PAC), the main advisory board for the Pamplin College of Business. In addition, I am a member of the Accounting (ACIS) Department Advisory Board. Plus, I am a past member of the Executive Leadership Team serving as Membership/Recruiting Chair of the R. B. Pamplin Society (RBPS / Pamplin Society). Finally, I am a past Board member of Reach The World, a not-for-profit organization based in New York City that focuses on children and education.
