About Jason Park

I am a highly skilled water and wastewater treatment engineer specializing in the design, research and development, technology evaluation, and implementation of various biological, electro-chemical, and eco-cultural wastewater treatment systems. My areas of expertise include Advanced Activated Sludge, electrochemical processes, Constructed Wetlands, and eco-cultural Enhanced Pond System for the treatment of domestic, dairy, agricultural, and industrial wastewaters. Additionally, I have extensive experience in diffuse nutrient pollution mitigation technologies, such as Filamentous Algal Nutrient Scrubbers and constructed wetlands and stormwater treatment. My practical experience includes bio-energy production and nutrients recovery from various waste and wastewater biomass through economically viable anaerobic digestion technologies. I also have extensive skills in high-frequency water quality monitoring, water and wastewater quality analysis, and data management. Prior to my current position at WSP NZ as a principal engineer - water and wastewater, I spent 20 years as a senior water quality and wastewater scientist at NIWA (National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research, Ltd) and 1.5 years at Babbage Consultant as a senior environmental consultant. I earned my PhD in Environmental Engineering from Massey University, New Zealand. I have published numerous research articles in leading international journals, including 20 as lead author and 16 as co-author. My research has been well recognized by peers worldwide, with over 3700 citations. I am a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) in Engineering New Zealand and current Technical Committee Member for Water New Zealand.
