About Jason Picardi

If there were a well-paying job as a professional student I would be a great one. Mainly because I love learning. I am at my best when perpetually endeavoring to learn, seek knowledge, and grow. I initially gravitated toward learning through literature getting a bachelor's degree in English. I enjoyed the analytical and problem-solving side of literature, how stories could be puzzles, and how there was no one exactly right way to interpret, or unravel, a text. I found joy in the analysis of multiple solutions to an interpretation of the same story and the logic involved into piecing that solution to life. When it came to career, I initially thought teaching would scratch that analytical, problem-solving itch combining my love of analysis with the problem solving aspect of how to get students engaged. For me, it turned out that theory ended up being more apt than the reality of a public school classroom. So I turned to technology. I had always been a “techie” at heart, from accidentally trying to optimize window's file structure by removing what I thought was ‘bloatware’ and crashing the family computer as a kid, to eventually building home servers and gaming PCs from individual and leftover components. It wasn’t until I started writing small powershell scripts to help manage and backup those home servers and PCs that I found satisfaction in analysis via software - whether it be by automation or making systems talk and work together. Being able to analyze and automate a problem via software combines my love of learning by opening the door to learn through an abundance of new languages and tools that provide dynamic solutions, yet also satiates my need to analyze and still be creative by devising different, or more streamlined, solutions to problems. So far I have only just scratched the surface as a student at Tech Elevator and can’t wait to get my hands on and learn much more.
