Law Enforcement professional with 28+ years of experience in public safety. I strive to be a forward thinking leader who believes in evolving the trajectory of law enforcement to reflect the societal requirements of our citizens needs as well as the needs of those who serve on the frontlines of law enforcement. I believe training and education of our law enforcement personnel is important to the growth and enhanced professionalism of each individual officer. I also believe it is important to educate the citizens within our communities to help bridge the gap between law enforcement and those we serve. Building collaborative relationships between agencies is one of the most important tools we in law enforcement are not utilizing enough. The patch on our shoulder isn't nearly as important as the mission of providing the best possible service to our communities. We all have the same mission and many hands make light work. In law enforcement as with most industries, we are often stronger together than we are on our own. I believe in taking care of those you lead holistically. This goes beyond the norm of making sure the troops have the equipment they need. They also need to feel supported, valued and given opportunities to grow. Mental health support is something I advocate for in my leadership. The average citizen may experience an average of 2-4 traumatic events in their lifetime. Police Officers experience an average of 800 during their 20 year career. It is time our profession addressesed this reality proactively and ensure the necessary support for the mental health of those who serve our communities.
