Jason Roper-Brooks was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, where a passion for advancing equity and fostering impactful change was shaped by the dynamic cultural and socio-economic landscape of the Caribbean. He attended Presentation College, San Fernando, where he participated in the 1st Presentation Sea Scouts, choir, swimming, and Intercol teams, building a strong foundation in leadership and teamwork. Jason earned a full scholarship to Dillard University, New Orleans, Louisiana, where he pursued his undergraduate studies and participated in study abroad programs in Pennsylvania and Cameroon. These experiences enriched his appreciation for diversity, global perspectives, and cross-cultural collaboration. He later pursued postgraduate qualifications in Strategic Planning at the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University. Professionally, Jason has gained extensive experience across the public, private, and NGO sectors. His early career with PolicyLink, a U.S-based think tank, sharpened his skills in policy analysis, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. Upon returning to Trinidad and Tobago, he served in pivotal roles with the Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Labour and Small and Micro Enterprise Development, contributing to national and regional policies focused on capacity building, sustainable development, and improving opportunities for underserved populations. In the private sector, Jason worked as Market Development Manager with the franchise holder for global brands such as KFC, Pizza Hut, Subway, Starbucks, and TGI Fridays across the Caribbean. In this role, he honed his expertise in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence, successfully supporting franchisees and aligning operations with global standards. Currently, Jason serves as Manager of Strategic Management at the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, where he leads initiatives to enhance the lives of children in vulnerable circumstances. He oversees stakeholder coordination, advocates for policy reforms, and drives strategic projects to strengthen child protection systems. This role has deepened his commitment to equity, access, and sustainability, particularly in advancing opportunities for marginalized groups. Jason’s career reflects a dedication to capacity building, governance strengthening, and impactful change across diverse sectors, embodying his commitment to shaping a more equitable and sustainable future.
