About Jason Seth

I started working for the City of Renton, WA in 2004 as the Records Management Coordinator. My responsibilities included establishing and implementing a city-wide records retention schedule, coordinating records retrieval from an on-site records center, facilitating records disposition including destruction and/or transfer of city records to the regional archives, training department administrators and staff on records retention policies and procedures, and performing back-up duties for the Deputy City Clerk. In 2008 I was promoted to Deputy City Clerk. My responsibilities included legislative support (electronic agenda preparation and distribution, electronic minutes preparation and distribution, video streaming, website editing, and audio recording of council meetings), codification of the city's ordinances, overseeing the Records Management Section, processing all contracts for mayoral signature, and was charged with implementing an electronic records management system utilizing Laserfiche software, among many other duties. I was promoted to City Clerk on November 3, 2014. I earned my Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation in 2013, and the Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designation in 2019. I am a member of ARMA, the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, the Washington State Clerks Association, and the King County Municipal Clerks Association.
