About Jason Steele

Jason Steele brings nearly twenty years of experience and deep technical knowledge in climate finance and clean energy program management and implementation. Previously, Jason worked at SNV, where he was responsible for expanding their RE portfolio in seven countries in Asia region. Previous to that Jason worked as Operations Manager at C-Quest Capital LLC in Washington, DC, helping manage their improved cook stove financial platform that consists of several programmatic Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects located in Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to C-Quest, Jason was a Manager at International Resources Group (IRG) where he managed and provided subject matter expertise to USAID funded projects including: the Europe and Eurasia Regional Energy Security and Market Development project (RESMD), which is a complex multi-year year project totaling approximately $8 million and consisting of various activities in several countries in the region; and the design and delivery of a class-room based Global Climate Change and Clean Energy training course for USAID staff in field missions throughout the world. Prior to joining IRG, Jason worked for the World Bank for 10 years both as staff and consultant. As a carbon finance specialist he conducted due diligence, including financial analysis and emission reductions analysis to confirm the eligibility of projects for carbon financing through the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM); and assisted in the management of the East Asia and Pacific Carbon Finance Project Portfolio (the World Bank’s largest carbon finance project portfolio). Jason has also managed several decentralized rural energy projects in Southeast Asia focusing on Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) development and developing delivery mechanisms for energy efficient household technologies and renewable energy technologies including improved cookstoves, household biodigesters, solar home systems and solar charged Light Emitting Diode (LED) lanterns.
