About Jason Sternberg

Jason started his higher educaton career writing lecture notes on overhead projection slides and now creates digital learning environments. He currently teaches digital journalism, media sociology and communication theory, and has experience as a department head and course coordinator. He has also worked in academic development and as an external curriculum consultant. In 2017, Jason was runner-up in QUT's David Gardiner Teacher of the Year Award. For the past four years, Jason has been a regular as the "TV Guru" on Afternoons with Kat Feeney, talking about the latest developments in television and streaming. He is also a regular commentor in local and national media, conducting hundreds of interviews, and has presented media training seminars for academics. Jason as has worked with several media organisations, including SBS, Fairfax Media (now Nine Entertainment Group) and Southern-Cross Austero, and has been a judge for major television industry awards. He cut his teeth in journalism as a student tracking down forgotten pre-Fitzgerald Inquiry whistleblowers and reporting on post-Fitzgerald police culture. Jason holds a PhD in Journalism from the University of Queensland, and a Master of Education from QUT.
