About Jason Stevens

I love making things. I enjoy getting my hands dirty at the soldering station or in the machine shop. I like writing code, the lower level the better. I love math, especially cryptography. Fixing things and solving problems is a lot of fun to me. I prefer a rural lifestyle. I raise chickens, brew beer, and play the guitar. In graduate school, I worked on several telescopes making observations of the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation from Chile. I have done extensive testing and characterization of the superconducting detectors and multiplexers. I have worked on telescope observing strategies for multiple projects, including co-leading the observing strategy working group for the Simons Observatory. I have been heavily involved in laboratory operations. I did two undergraduate degrees at Arizona State University. My undergraduate research was in particle physics, where I did data acquisition software and firmware programming, as well as monte carlo simulations of the experiment. In addition to physics, I did a mathematics degree focusing mainly in cryptography, number theory, and probability. I previously worked at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Boulder in the Quantum Sensors Group. I studied the effects of ionizing radiation on superconducting quantum circuits with the application of improving qubit coherence.
