About Javid Ibad

Welcome to my corner of the web! I am an MSCA Doctoral Fellow within the EU-funded VORTEX Doctoral Network and a Research Assistant at the Faculty of European Studies at Babeș-Bolyai University. My academic focus lies in European politics, political parties, radicalization, and the far-right, with a particular emphasis on the radicalization of center-right parties in European multi-party democracies. My doctoral research explores how center-right parties radicalize, especially in response to the influence of far-right parties. By examining coalition formation, competition, and indirect interactions, my work seeks to uncover the causal mechanisms driving these shifts and their impact on political positioning and policy platforms, specifically on sociocultural matters. Through qualitative case studies, I aim to provide a deeper understanding of these dynamics within the broader socio-political landscape of Europe. Beyond academia, I bring a wealth of experience from roles in NGOs, political parties, think tanks, public regulatory agencies, universities, and financial consultancies. These experiences have shaped my work ethic and my ability to communicate, and analyze. I also host a podcast with Europe Elects, where I discuss European political developments, particularly elections and party dynamics. This platform allows me to engage with a broad audience on issues like populism, far-right movements, and the evolution of political actors.
