About Javier Mariscal

Javier Mariscal González (Sevilla, Spain, 1973) is a doubtful writer who started to publish poems and short stories,'Telegramas en domingo'(Telegrams on Sunday, 2011) after shakin' his hometown's shop windows hangin' all over photographs and any kind of poetry bites with the alternative messy romantic group Aina Libe. Then he stumbled on a beautiful local editor, Palimpsesto, and came out 'Tragalluvias', his first long play (novel). Some succes had this lost love story wandering around Sevilla and smelling to John Dos Passos, Saramago, Baricco or Bukowski, the great Bukowski. Sometimes Javier says, about his writing, that he is photographing with words, the opposite when he hands a camara, when he tries to write a story with light. These features sum a little his sentimental idle mind, good enough to work hard for three years and finish 'Hans', another thrilling journey, this time to Sweden and caught in the beginning of the Great War. Hans in short They are the first weeks into the Great War around the western front, close Belgium frontier. Hans, middle aged, german soldier, teacher before going to the army, can not stand dying slow, very slowly, down in the trenches. So he decides to run away, run far without looking back and let his soul breath from such a madness. And the only getaway direction is going to Gotland, a long distance island in Sweden where lives his uncle Kjell, whom he has never seen. In the meantime road to get there Hans meets Rita Florennes, who helps him to feel not so dead inside, the boy Markus, kite pilot, and Chez Leandre, a poor delicate magician. Till he arrives to the island and meets Rubén González, a kind of spanish tramp, his best new friend who leads him to Kjell and his wife Inger and the charming talkative Cecilia.
