About Javier Miranda

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Materials Science and Engineering with a foundational background in Mechanical Engineering. Since my final undergraduate year, I have actively participated in both industrial and academic research projects. Notable experiences include addressing erosion and corrosion issues in heavy fuel engines used for stationary power generation, as well as investigating the synthesis and deposition of bio-hydroxyapatite to enhance the bioactivity of titanium-based implants. For three years, I served in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, where I taught problem-solving courses and conducted hands-on demonstrations as a laboratory instructor. Concurrently, I worked as a research assistant at the university’s Materials Research Institute, contributing to various materials characterization studies. Currently, my doctoral research focuses on the high-temperature mechanical behavior and microstructural evolution of metastable beta titanium alloys. I am particularly interested in the formation of alpha and other metastable phases under different solutionizing and aging conditions, and in applying this knowledge to improve the mechanical performance of components manufactured by sintering or additive techniques.
