About Javier Morodo

Javier Martínez Morodo began his career at GBM in 2009 and soon his business vision for technology and innovation led him to create and lead GBM Digital. Since then, Javier has focused on the development of products, strategies and financial services, supported by new digital trends, design & technology which help solve the scarce supply of financial services in Latin America. In 2011 he launched GBMhomebroker, an online trading platform that won CNNExpansion’s Best Financial Project award. GBMhomebroker soon became the top platform in the Mexican industry having more transaction volume than most independent brokers in the country. He led the development of Piggo, and in 2014 the product was introduced in the Mexican market as an innovative new investment and savings platform. In 2017 Javier was commissioned with transforming the wealth management business unit at GBM. He’s tackling this challenge by designing a hybrid project where a Robo-Advisor, tech platforms, and financial advisors work together to counsel investors and potentialize $5 billion USD in assets under management. In 2019 he went back tho the corporate headquarters to lead strategy across GBM, alongside the executive team they managed to transform the organization to be digitally driven and raise outside capital from large global technology investors. In 2021 he decided to change courses and join Bitso, one of the most successful unicorns in Latin America as Chief Product Officer, where he’s leading the product strategy for the crypto company with the mission of making crypto useful and creating financial inclusion in the region. Javier is considered a reference for the FinTech sector. He has been invited to different national & international forums and was recognized as one of Grupo Expansión’s 30 promises for 2016. He advises and serves in different boards ranging from Alternative Investment Funds (Blockchain, Venture Capital, Angel Investing) to startups and mid size companies (Blockchain, Fintech). He is committed on changing the financial culture and landscape in the region and has launched social media channels, blogs and a podcast to foster financial education for Spanish speaking people across the world. He is certain that it is our responsibility to develop vehicles of social transformation through technology that foster socioeconomic development and the wellbeing of people across the world.
