About Jay Brubaker

Jay Brubaker has dedicated his entire life to serving and protecting the people of St. Petersburg, FL. Jay retired from full-time service with the St. Petersburg Police Department at the rank of Sergeant in 2002. He immediately joined the St. Petersburg Police Reserve Unit, where he currently serves as a reserve officer and teaches at the Law Enforcement Academy at St. Pete College. Jay is also the co-founder of Positive Impact Worldwide, a St. Petersburg-based nonprofit that provides free groceries weekly to over food-insecure children and families in St. Petersburg. Jay has significantly impacted St. Petersburg for nearly fifty years by serving and protecting its citizens and feeding its children and their families! Jay has taken his law enforcement experience and instructed several thousand Cadets over the past two decades, many of whom still serve in our community today. The combination of his direct law enforcement service and his training of others has had a significant impact on our community and the success of the St. Petersburg Police Department. Today, Jay is a mentor for many of the officers he has trained and is well respected by his students, colleagues, and the tens of thousands of people in our community that he has served for nearly five decades. In addition, since founding Positive Impact in 2003, Jay and his wife Karalynne have provided several million meals to children and their families in St. Petersburg. In 2020 alone, in response to the rising need for food during the COVID-19 pandemic, they distributed more than meals to the St. Petersburg community, significantly impacting those facing hunger.
