About Jay Carreon

I was a Quality Control Specialist at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, a leading biotechnology company that develops transformative medicines for people with serious diseases. I have core competencies in osmolality, endotoxin, bioburden, and cell culture testing and analysis, as well as in maintaining accurate laboratory records and adhering to cGMP/GDP expectations. I participated in the authoring and review of data, SOPs, COAs, analytical methods, protocols, and reports, as well as perform in-process, release, and stability testing and/or review independently following established methodology, procedures, and SOPs. I am also trained in GMP Manufacturing Aseptic Processing Techniques and proficient in handling a variety of cell cultures. Previously, I worked as a Senior QC Associate I and a QC Associate II at ViaCyte, a clinical-stage biotechnology company that develops novel cell therapies for diabetes. There, I was responsible for performing and collecting cell culture for QC testing, trending of EM data, releasing of received raw materials, reagents and GMP materials, and training of new hires, among other duties. I am passionate about quality control and ensuring the safety and efficacy of life-saving products. I am motivated by the mission and vision of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and I would love to bring my diverse perspectives and experiences to the team.
