I teach special education at Central Islip High School and have a long history of business management experience. With teaching time and family time at such a premium, I was frustrated with the nonsense of some of the daily requirements teachers have to endure. Specifically, my inherent makeup and my business background force me to minimize wasted time. Frankly, I was exhausted with handwriting my daily plan into an antiquated paper book that was, in my opinion, nothing more than "busy work". Day in and day out I found myself wasting time working to print out a hard copy of State Standards and National Core Curriculum on the internet which I would have to print out, then cut out, and then tape into my old school plan book. With all the technological advancement over the last sixty years, are we really still doing what teachers did in the 1950's? I guess it is better than using a slate tablet and chalk, but come on! LOL Seriously though, My TeacherPlanBook.com is a website in which a teacher can update their web-based plan book, anywhere, any time by immediately being able to search the internet for ANYTHING, including the required National and/or State specific standards and curriculum without leaving the objective page in your plan book! A member can even chat or share plans with other teachers! Also, as a teacher I never have to be “chased down” by an administrator to turn in my plan book for evaluation or leave sub plans only to be told:"I didn't see them" by a sub. I even give out my guest viewer log-in to parents on parent teacher night so there are never any excuses as to why one of my students or their parent "didn't know what the assignment was!"
