About Jay Danek

My background has been in the golf industry for over 10 years before I came to work at West Coast Turf. I have had to priviledge of working in the Midwest and Southwest and have learned a lot about managing turfgrass in different climates. My most recent accomplishments have been dianosising turfgrass problems, identifying the correct turfgrass for a desired location as well as my continued research into Seashore Paspalum's. My goal is to change the way we look at the turfgrass and continue my research as we encounter poorer water quality and continue to work with turfgrass breeders to find the best turfgrass choice for every situation. Specialties: I specialize in Southwest Bermudagrasses and I have put an extreme emphasis on Seashore Paspalum's as the research continues to show how valuable they currently are and will be as the world "Goes Green." Seashore Paspalum is a grass that can handle a pH range from 4.5 to 9.0, uses 66 percent less Nitrogen than bermudagrass, has a shorter dormancy period and can be maintained from greens height at 1/10th of an inch up to 2 inches. This is no longer the grass of the future, it is available now.
