About Jay Deo

I am inspired and determined to help communities be their best through strategic and publicly engaged action. For 13+ years, I've excelled in strategically and operationally leading within organizations while rapidly gaining more experience, best practices, and leadership opportunities. My experiences, accomplishments, and scope of work are wide-ranging and continue to grow. I've executed key organizational strategies, carried out Council priorities, written and presented to Council, guided broad recreation and community services, developed statistical resources to support data-driven decisions, wrote and received major grants, and supported key capital projects. I have planned successful community engagement campaigns, managed departmental operating budgets of $11+ million, effectively trained hundreds of staff, managed complex labour relations, and created positive team cultures by implementing a staff-first approach. Through my lived experiences as a BIPOC, I have been an advocate for creating inclusive opportunities and equitable access to recreation for the diverse populations that represent our communities. I will continue contributing to and implementing organizational priorities and strategies and building staff capacity within the organizations I work for. I am committed to enhancing the day-to-day lives of the people in the communities I serve.
