Background

About Jay Dev

I am an educator, facilitator, and civic technologist based in Washington, DC. I'm currently focused on building data literacy and storytelling skills in adult learners, professionals from the nonprofit and public sector, and impacted communities so that they can better understand their needs and advocate for themselves using data and lived experience. I have over 5 years of software product development experience, serving as an area product owner at Esri on the ArcGIS Hub team and as an advisor for digital services and community engagement to the Metropolitan Area Planning Council. I started my career in policy research — I assisted on mixed methods (quantitative, spatial, qualitative, microsimulation) research projects related to housing, community development finance, food insecurity, place-based initiatives, health insurance accessibility, and education.
