Background
About Jay Eichberger
I am an environmental scientist with over 15 years of experience in the environmental industry. My career began at a remediation firm assisting with the implementation of in situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) and chemical reduction (ISCR) at bench, pilot, and full-scale applications for projects across the United States. I transitioned to environmental consulting, spending a decade working to bring sites through various stages of compliance to closure. I have been involved with site assessments, site and remedial investigations, and remedial actions for a wide variety of industrial and commercial sites throughout New Jersey. My experience includes proposal preparation, management of project budgets, data analysis, report preparation and review, and general project management as well as preparation of regulatory filings to NJDEP and USEPA. Additionally, I have experience managing and maintaining laboratory certification under New Jersey’s Environmental Laboratory Program. I returned to my home state after obtaining a position with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) where I continue to pursue my interests in vapor intrusion. Since that time, I have taken on the role of team leader for EGLE’s Vapor Intrusion Technical Assistance and Program Support Team. I later became a member of Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council’s Vapor Intrusion Mitigation Training (ITRC VIMT) Team and took on a leadership role for the passive mitigation approaches subgroup. In my free time, I enjoy pursuing my interests in cooking, fermentation, percussion, exploring the great outdoors, and spending time with my wife. During my time as an environmental consultant I have been involved with the investigation of a variety of environmental sites including: A Former Automotive Production Facility, Dry Cleaners, Flavor and Fragrance Production Facilities, Food Production Facilities, Gas Packaging Facilities, Gas Stations, Hospitals, Injection Molding Facilities, a Linoleum Manufacturing Facility, an Oil Terminal Facility, Paint Manufacturing Facilities, Public Transit Properties, Residential Properties, Retail Stores, and Warehouse Facilities.
