About Jay Enden

I am an experienced physician executive with proven accomplishments in such areas as hospital turnaround, clinical integration, service line integration, strategic planning, physician recruitment and engagement, and program and leadership development. My clinical experience includes 17 years in the practice of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine. I have experience in clinical research and I served as an associate medical director of utilization for a managed care organization. From 2006 to 2016, I served as Medical Director for Southside Hospital, during which time it evolved into the fifth tertiary care hospital in the Northwell Health System, since renamed South Shore University Hospital. I have served as an Eastern Region Medical Director since 2016, and I was asked to return as Medical Director of South Shore University Hospital Regional Medical Director in 2019. I proudly serve on the board of the Family Service League, and I strongly value partnership and collaboration with community-based organizations. For such work, I was fortunate to receive the NAACP Healthcare Award in 2011 and the Fay Lindner Humanitarian Award in 2015. I have held fast to the message that a culture of safety and continuous assessment, engagement and improvement must be embedded within any strategic planning. People seek care where providers show they care, and where quality is conspicuously valued. I believe in building credibility through transparency and consistency, and then driving results through partnership, shared vision, alignment and engagement.
