About Jay Ganesan

I’m a biomedical engineer passionate about building bridges between clinical care and engineering innovation. With hands-on experience in hospital-based patient care, IRB-approved clinical research, and device design, I aim to develop solutions that meaningfully improve lives. Currently, I’m pursuing a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University, where my thesis focuses on developing a synthetic bioink for bladder bioprinting. I also collaborate with Lurie Children’s Hospital on a wearable respiratory monitoring device designed to support pediatric diagnostics. I also work as a Patient Care Technician at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, where I gain firsthand insight into patient needs and care delivery in a high-acuity rehab setting. This experience has shaped me to approach engineering with empathy, responsiveness, and a respect for our lived experiences. I’m excited to continue blending clinical insight with engineering problem-solving, whether in research, medtech, or medicine.
