Jay’s professional career includes 25 years in team building, management and leadership roles, with an emphasis on servant leadership. Knowledge and awareness of Indigenous issues and the Government of Canada’s obligations and commitments with respect to Indigenous Peoples. Understanding of the diversity of the culture, the history, legal rights, politics and an understanding of the top issues for Indigenous Peoples; both politically and socially. Knowledge of the Government of Canada’s policies and priorities as they pertain to the management of natural resources. • Ability to analyse and synthesize complex issues, and provide strategic advice to senior management; • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment; • Ability to actively listen and communicate ideas and information orally and in writing in a way that ensures the messages are understood by others; • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines in an environment of multiple priorities.
