About Jay Jarvis

For over five years I have played a pivotal role within the Offender Learning team of The Manchester College at HMP Styal. During this time I have pushed the boundaries of my roles, progressing from an Administrative Assistant to achieving the necessary teaching qualifications that have enabled me to play a lead role as the Literacy Co-ordinator for the Functional Skills department at Styal. The progress I have made in this time has placed me in a number of extremely varied roles through which I have developed transferable skills that are applicable to a range of business environments. As well as having a calming persona, which is essential while working in the obvious taxing atmosphere that comes with being a tutor in offender learning, I have developed specific administrative abilities such as planning, time management, organisational and analytical and problem solving skills. I am also fully versed in all Microsoft Office applications. I enjoy not only being challenged but also challenging processes so that I can improve the way I carry out my duties for the company. I genuinely believe that the skills and knowledge I possess will be an asset to any employer.
