Background
About Jay Kadiwala
Jay Kadiwala is a technical leader with strong business and legal skills, ready to transform your organization by minimizing risk, maximizing human capital to reach even the most aspiring organizational goals. He has more than ten years of international technical working experience in cutting edge technologies, product safety, patent drafting, prior art searching, manufacturing, training, and organizational skills development. He has more than fifteen years of non-profit, community, and public service experience. Jay’s technical training can be summarized as an investment in protecting ideas, technology, and public safety. Early in his life, Jay knew he wanted to become an engineer. He enjoyed working on cars and the 12V industry was very intriguing to him. Understanding DC electrical systems as a teenager became a springboard for developing his skills in other types of electrical systems, and products. Upon graduation, Jay worked on electrical components, from small electrical snap switches and capacitors to large motors and facility filters used in electromagnetic interference suppression applications. Later, his technical training led him to federal government service at the United States Patent & Trademark Office. There, Jay examined computer networking patents and other electrical engineering technical literature supporting method (process) applications. Jay is currently in the federal government working to support the safety of consumer products including those containing lithium batteries and cells as a senior electrical engineer. After gaining his primary technical experience, Jay attended law school to enhance his knowledge, skill, and experience and to apply it to the future legal considerations and consequences of market technologies, particularly in the areas of patents and product safety. During his studies, he engaged in community service opportunities in the Appalachian and Tri-Cities area along with Legal Aid experience in eleven northeast counties in the state of North Carolina. In 2015, he became a member of the nationally distinguished Virginia State Bar. In 2024, Jay became a member of the District of Columbia Bar.Jay is currently working as an electrical engineer at the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission to improve electrical product safety, particularly those products containing lithium batteries.Jay is also currently supporting legal document review projects with LHH, located in Washington, D.C.Photo Credit: Darshan Photography 2016
